Perkins Memorial Tower at Bear Mountain State Park – NY

Do you have one of those moments etched in your memory when you can flashback to a time when you experienced seeing something that took your breath away? Perhaps it was when you saw your future spouse at the end of the aisle on your wedding day or maybe a sunset on the beach or catching a rare glimpse of an animal in its natural habitat. For those familiar with the Hudson Valley, there are moments when the pristine beauty of this part of the country can truly take your breath away, especially now in the beautiful fall season.

Vibrant with color, the Hudson Valley is a sight to see and we just happen to know a little secret spot to share with you…well, it’s not so secret but it is an amazing spot that you just need to check out! It is the Perkins Memorial Tower at Bear Mountain State Park. It is located 1,305 feet above the Hudson Valley and with a 360 degree, panoramic view it is just a spectacular place. From the tower you can actually see four states: New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. In addition to the amazing New York skyline you can also see Storm King Mountain, Bear Mountain Bridge, the historic Fort Montgomery, and West Point, which is the prestigious United States Military Academy. If that wasn’t enough, on a clear day you can also catch a glimpse of a variety of mountain ranges such as the Hudson Highlands, Moosic Mountains, Shawagunks, Palisades, and the New Jersey Highlands.

The Perkins Memorial Drive and Tower are generally open from April through late November, but it is often dependent on weather so you are encouraged to contact the park for confirmation before you go.

A visit to this park and tower is sure to be a highlight but another one is a stay at The Caldwell House Bed and Breakfast. Our multi-award winning, country inn is luxurious, peaceful, and relaxing.
