Top Places to Visit on Hudson Valley Winter Weekend

The colder shoulder season months can be very long if there is nothing to look forward to. Wouldn’t you agree? We encourage you to set out for a winter weekend in New York’s Hudson Valley. Looking for a winter sports day? Once that fluffy white stuff is here to stay the Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz is a fun place to spend the day. From December through March they offer visitors a sports day pass for $99 per person. This includes equipment rental fees and access to ice skating, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and hiking trails as well as the greenhouse and gift shop.

If you are still up for more outdoor fun, check out these local spots not far from our bed and breakfast:

  • Storm King Art Center – currently open Wednesday through Monday. Winter weekends (January 8 – March 27, 2022) they will change to Saturdays and Sundays only from 10am to 4pm and advance tickets are required.
  • Walkway over the Hudson State Historic Park – This unique attraction is a must see when visiting the area. At 1.28 miles in length, it is the world’s longest elevated pedestrian bridge and allows you to see several miles up and down the Hudson River. It is open daily from sunrise to sunset and at either end of the walkway are miles of trails and parks, historic districts to explore, shops and restaurants.

Interested in some trying some local wine? The Shawangunk Wine Trail is home to 13 wineries between the Shawangunk Mountains and the Hudson River. You’ll find all sorts of fun events and offerings throughout the year on this wine trail. Spend a chilly winter afternoon doing some wine tasting and relaxing in the cozy atmosphere of a local winery.
