Minnewaska State Park Preserve is a popular recreational hot spot in the Hudson Valley. It sits amid the towering Shawangunk Mountains and is less than an hour from our bed and breakfast, making it a great place to spend a day.  It is open every day from 9 a.m. to dusk and parking is just $10 per vehicle. This place, in addition to its natural beauty, offers folks a myriad of things to do from scenic picnic areas to challenging back-country hiking to rock climbing and swimming.

If you are looking for a great place to explore on foot, Minnewaska offers adventurers over 85 miles of trails. Take a guided hike or head out on your own. Be sure to bring good hiking shoes, plenty of water and grab a trail map at the parking booth. There are numerous waterfalls, three crystalline sky lakes, and many beautiful views to be found so take your time to enjoy this amazing area. Swimming is allowed from mid-August through early September but only in designated areas on the lakes when lifeguards are on duty.
