Hudson Valley Wineries, Breweries & Cideries

You do not have to be on TV, in the grocery aisle, or on the highway for very long before being bombarded with something related to the fan favorite – pumpkin spice. It certainly screams that fall is here. The earth has started its tilt away from the sun in our hemisphere and “leaf peeping” is about to become a main attraction here in the Hudson Valley. Another thing that takes center stage in the fall is the apple! Not only is the Hudson Valley chock full of wineries, cideries, breweries and distilleries, but many create fruit-infused drinks highlighting the flavor of apple. Keep reading below for a list of places near Caldwell House Bed & Breakfast where you can find some great apple flavored drinks…to go with your favorite fall treat!

Apple Ciders, Liquor & Spirits

First, we have the Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery located in Warwick, NY, about 30 minutes from our B&B. The founders here purchased an orchard in 1989, opened their doors in 1994 and then created the acclaimed Doc’s Draft Hard Apple Cider. It is a semi-dry cider made with local Hudson Valley apples. The American Fruits Distillery is also part of this winery and they specialize in fruit-based brandies and liqueurs. These “dessert” drinks are made from a mix of fermented Hudson Valley cider and the distillery’s apple brandy, which is then aged in bourbon barrels. In addition to regular tastings this winery has an on-site bakery/cafe & seasonal apple picking.

Next up is Fishkill Farms located in Hopewell Junction, NY, about 35 minutes away from the inn. Founded by family friends of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, this small-scale farm is one of the Hudson Valley’s oldest apple orchards. They produce dry and semi-dry drinks with apples direct from the farm. The batches are on the smaller side though so if you find a favorite, we suggest scooping it up before it’s gone!

Third, we want to share about Tuthilltown Spirits in Gardiner, NY. They are about 40 minutes from us and while often known for their bourbon, they are also getting on the map for their fresh pressed apple vodka. Made entirely with Hudson Valley apples, pressed and fermented as cider, and then twice distilled beverage is perfect for adding into your favorite cocktail!

Come and take your own apple tour! Whether to these wineries and distilleries or for an apple picking adventure, the Hudson Valley is the place to be this fall. Book your next getaway online today or contact us anytime for more information about the area or how to plan the perfect fall vacation.
