Kingston, NY is a destination area for culture, shopping, dining and recreation. “Rondout” is the area considered as “downtown.” It is situated right on the Hudson River and was originally a Maritime village. It eventually became the third largest port on the river and merged with Kingston in 1872. The image above shows Kingston Point on the Hudson on Oct 7th, 1898. The neighborhood was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. With the Kingston Marina located here, you can take a boat tour to view the Rondout Lighthouse or simply enjoy the waterfront park, shops and restaurants.

Arts and Culture – Make a visit to the Hudson River Maritime Museum, the Trolley Museum of New York and the Arts Society of Kingston to name just a few.

Shopping – Perusing and window shopping and hunting for bargains…always a fun excursion on vacation! Here you’ll find all kinds of quaint boutique shops with everything from vintage collectibles, handcrafted jewelry, home goods, wine and coffee, antiques and clothing.

Kingston Waterfront Farmers Market – TR Gallo Waterfront Park is brimming with activity every Sunday from 10am – 2pm, May 23rd to October 31st. The Waterfront Farmers Market has everything you’d want to fill a basket with: fruits, veggies, herbs, cheeses, pies, fresh caught fish, breads, cakes, cookies, cupcakes, ice cream, iced coffees, spirits, ciders, and more.
