In an area known as the birthplace one of the major phases of American art, the Hudson River School, our region offers a great selection of 20th Century art. The Dia:Beacon is one great example. This renowned collection of art from the 1960s to the present is located 25 minutes from our bed and breakfast. Koo Jeong, Franz Erhard Walther , Zoe Leonard, Imi Knoebel and Sol LeWitt are some of the exhibitors. This Saturday, December 11 the DIA is offering a Community Free Day. Residents of neighboring counties Columbia, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Ulster, and Westchester are invited to visit Dia:Beacon free of charge. If you would like to look at art on a smaller scale how about visiting Paul Gould’s Hudson River Gallery in nearby Cornwall-on-Hudson. Right now there is the 3rd Annual Exibition of 1″ x 2″ canvasses being displayed! Before or after these fascinating exhibits have a relaxing stay at the Caldwell House Bed and Breakfast.
