Hudson Highlands NY – Go Explore, Experience and Enjoy

We are all finding ourselves in uncertain times at the moment so we hope all of you are staying safe and finding ways to keep your spirits up during this time! We will look forward to the day when life gets back to normal but for today, we thought we’d share something you can do outside that can give your mind and body a boost!  Getting outside and breathing good, fresh air and giving your body a good dose of sunshine will not only put a smile on your face but is also beneficial to your health. Not too far from our bed and breakfast is a beautiful area called the Hudson Highlands.

The Hudson Highlands State Park is about 45 minutes from us and located on the east side of the Hudson River. It is mostly an undeveloped preserve of around 8000 acres. For those out there who love to walk and hike, this park contains some of the region’s most spectacular and popular trails. You’ll find a wide variety of trails of different lengths and difficulties. If you need to get out to burn calories from all the snacks you’ve been eating (ahem…while bingeing on your favorite Netflix shows) or just need a quick hike to get your blood flowing, there is something for everyone – kids included!  The Breakneck Ridge Trail, a 5.5-mile jaunt that rises 1,250 feet was rated by Newsweek as one of the top 10 day hikes in America. You can find a trail map at most trailheads.

This is a great spot if you need to get out of the house or the city for an afternoon, and still allows you to follow the rules of “social distancing” as we are all being encouraged to do. Being indoors is comfortable but spending time in nature is just as important! So, turn off the TV, put down the smartphone and bring your family outdoors. And, when you are ready to plan your next getaway to the Hudson Valley, we will be ready to welcome you here at the Caldwell House Bed and Breakfast.
